This Beautiful Land
by Darren Anderson
The clop of my shoes
provides company
as I stroll down
this path where towering pines
cast their wavy reflection
over dew covered cement.
Green needles
play in the light wind,
spreading spring's scent.
Dogwoods,
swimming in white pigment
drink the clouds nectar.
A chubby red breasted robin
picks the grass carpet,
keeping her button eyes
attuned to my movements
as I leave her behind.
On a sky blue bench
nestled among the mossy woods,
a woman sits with legs crossed.
Her cinnamon skin glistens
in the misty rain
as she waves hello.
What a beautiful land I live in.
